The Doctor and the Professor

The Doctor lay on his back on the floor of the main console room, staring up at the never ending ceiling. “River.” He called from where he was. He quickly stood up and headed underneath the console before he started rummaging through one of the panels, tossing clothes and other various items behind him.

High School AU | Clara & Theta

He smiled at her largely. “School will be over before you know it. There’s a whole vast amount of everything just waiting out there. It’s yours for the taking.” Theta looked into her eyes for a moment before answering. “Travel. That’s all I want to do. Just travel, see everything and do everything that I can.”

Her eyes caught his attention again, something about them brought him in. The school bell broke his trance, it was then he realized he had forgotten to breathe. Theta got up from his seat and looked down to her. “You want to get out of here? I know ditching is sort of bad, but what could half of one day do?” He held his hand out to her. “What do you say?”

Clara grinned at that. “I know. And I can’t wait to get out there and explore it.” Maybe she would travel for a bit before she settled in as a full time nanny. She could always do side jobs when she needed the money. “Another thing we have in common. I’d love to be able to travel.” She didn’t need to stay in this town, so what was keeping her there? Her father mostly, but surely he would understand if she traveled around for a bit.

The young woman bit her lip, thinking about it. The only time she had ever actually skipped school had been in she had had a good reason to, like being sick or….or a funeral. Shaking the last thoughts from her mind, Clara then smiled a little and said, “I’d like that. I could show you parts of town that you haven’t seen. Better yet, we should probably leave town since it wouldn’t be a good idea to get caught.”

His eyes lit up. “Really?” he questioned with a huge grin before taking her hand. “Come on. I’ll drive.” Theta pulled her through the bustling halls as everyone rushed to their next class for the day. He stopped and looked around a corner, a devious smirk planted on his face. It was only sneaking out of school but even for him there was a slight adrenaline rush to the whole thing. Almost caught twice they made it out to the parking lot and he laughed. “I forgot how much fun sneaking out was.”

He led her to a blue car, it was simple. Something to get him places without using his secret machine. He opened the door for her, allowing her in and shutting it before making his way to the driver’s seat. “Where to, Oswald?”

Adventures in domesticity | Clara & The Doctor

thegirlwhocantwicedead:

He smiled softly down at her. She made him happy, when he thought he couldn’t be. She’s been there always to bring him out of the darkness, she was his light. “Oh Clara…” his thumb quietly caressed her cheek. “My Clara.” he almost purred as he gazed down into her chocolate brown eyes. The Doctor then wrapped his arms around her and held her against his chest, his chin resting on the top of her head. He closed his eyes and released a content sigh from his nostrils. He felt safe there, safe with her.

Hours could have passed before he finally let her go and started towards the door, he stopped with a smile and looked back at her, wriggling his fingers towards her. “Come on, I have something to show you.”

Clara’s own lips curled up in a smile. If it weren’t for the Doctor, she’d just be going on about her life as a nanny. While she had always enjoyed her job, she had always wanted to travel too. Now she got the best of both worlds. “Doctor,” she murmured back, leaning into his touch. Part of her knew that this wouldn’t last forever, but she wasn’t going to dwell on that. “That’s right chin boy, I am all yours,” she told him with a pleased smile. She held tightly onto him, almost afraid to let him go. When she’d been given the chance to save his life, she hadn’t thought anything bad about it. She’d just wanted to make sure that he would be okay. And now here they were, she had saved him and he had saved her. “My Doctor.”

She didn’t know how long they had sat there like that, her cheek rested against his chest, her hand rubbed small circles on his back as she slowly breathed him in. When he let her go, she raised an eyebrow at him. “Where do you think you’re going?” There was something in his eyes, a certain light that she hadn’t really noticed before. Taking his extended hand, she stood up, brushed off her skirt and was at his side. “What have you got to show me this time?”

The Doctor simply smiled at her, not giving her a reply. He led them down the dozens of winding hallways until they reached a door that Clara most likely had never seen before due to the perception filter. He held the door open for her, and followed in behind.

The room was large. A bed sat at one end and it was decorated with various Gallifreyan items. “This is me. Well… I’m me, but this is too.” He scratched at the back of his name thoughtlessly as he stared at some of the things on the shelf. He hadn’t been in this room for a long time. “It’s my room. Most people who come into the TARDIS assume I don’t have one, I do. I just… sometimes it hurts to come in here. These are the only things besides well the TARDIS I have left from Gallifrey.” He picked up a golden ball and tossed it in the air where it hovered above their heads. “Anti-gravity ball.” He smiled to Clara before snapping and the ball landed in his hand once again.  “I don’t really show anyone this room but… you’re different than most. In more ways than one.” He smiled at her as he took a seat in a large chair. “What do you think?”

Adventures in domesticity | Clara & The Doctor

He swallowed and looked distantly ahead. He was reckless, continuously over his many lives he had done something he resented himself for. Living for so long only made him hate himself. In the Doctor’s wake there were bodies, countless bodies. With the amount of people he saved there was a substantial amount he didn’t, a substantial amount he indirectly killed himself.

He shook his head, remembering where he was. His eyes slowly fell to her hand and he quietly pushed his fingers between hers and held her hand. The Doctor’s eyes then met hers. “I know.” he spoke softly. His free hand then rose to cup her cheek and his lips quietly met hers. “And I love you for it.”

Clara was worried that she had upset him, but she was only telling him the truth. She had seen so many of his lives, every single one of them really, with one goal in mind, keep him safe. But there had been other that, like him, she couldn’t save. And she’d seen him go through so much loss. She wanted to tell him that everything would be okay in the end, that he wouldn’t end up miserable again, but she couldn’t promise that just like no one else could. And she understood better than anyone else too.

Feeling his hand in hers, she gave him a gentle smile. “Good,” she murmured back. She didn’t know how long she was there to stay. Was she still an average human that would grow old and die? Or was there something special about her now that she’d been in his time stream? She wasn’t sure if she wanted to know the answer to that. Though one thing was for certain, she hoped that he knew he had someone there for him now. Clara leaned into his touch, unable to help herself as she did so. “You know, I’d be a bit worried if you didn’t,” she said, her voice light and teasing. Her hand holding his squeezed it. “You probably could guess it on your own, but I do love you Doctor. There’s not a thing in this universe that I wouldn’t do for you. As you once said to me, you’re under my protection.” She knew that there were still other Clara’s out there just waiting to be able to save him, so she knew that she was right in saying that.

High School AU | Clara & Theta

Theta smirked slowly and shrugged. “Yeah, yeah, I could.” He raised his brows then laughed, only half joking. He crossed his arms on the table and leaned in slightly towards her.

He smiled and nodded to her comment. “London Blitz, eh? Big part of history unless people try to push it down your throat continuously. Honestly there’s only so many factoids you could know about something before you explode.” A small chuckle escaped his throat.

"Cocky much?" Clara asked teasingly as she nudged him in the side. There was something about this boy, something that she couldn’t quite put her finger on. But she was beginning to like him. Did I really just think that? Before he could notice her blushing at her own thoughts, she looked away and moved her bag to her side instead. Having him lean in toward her didn’t help matters at all.

"Mhm. The old London Blitz. Sometimes I wonder if that’s all they want us to know about." She’d been learning about it ever since she had been a child. Meeting his eyes again, Clara replied, “Exactly. And it’s like their trying to cause us to explode. But…only a few more years, yeah? What are you planning to do when you’re done with school?"

He smiled at her largely. “School will be over before you know it. There’s a whole vast amount of everything just waiting out there. It’s yours for the taking.” Theta looked into her eyes for a moment before answering. “Travel. That’s all I want to do. Just travel, see everything and do everything that I can.”
